Chapter 1: The Strategy of Choosing a Name

Before you ever type a word into the search bar, you need a strategy. A great domain name should be short, memorable, easy to spell, and free of hyphens or numbers (which confuse people listening to the name out loud).

If your exact business name is taken as a .com, you have several strategic options:

• Append a word: Try adding "app", "get", or "tech" to the end (e.g., getdomzivo.com).
• Explore alternative TLDs: While .com is king, extensions like .io, .co, and .ai have become highly respected in the tech space. If you are a local business, consider country-code TLDs like .us, .uk, or .ng.

Chapter 2: The Search Phase

Once you have an idea, it's time to see if it's available. Go to the Domain Search page.

Type your desired name into the massive search bar. You can type just the name (e.g., "myawesomebrand") or the name with a specific extension (e.g., "myawesomebrand.io").

Our system uses high-speed APIs to check the central registry databases instantly. Within seconds, you will see a list of results:

• Exact Match: If your exact search is available, it will appear at the top in green.
• Taken: If the domain is already owned by someone else, it will say "Unavailable". You cannot register it unless the current owner lets it expire, or you attempt to buy it from them via a broker.
• Premium Domains: Some domains are considered highly valuable "Premium" real estate by the registry (often very short or dictionary words). These are available for registration but carry a significantly higher price tag, which will be clearly displayed.

Chapter 3: Securing Your Assets (Checkout)

Click the green "Add to Cart" button next to any available domains you want to purchase. You can continue searching and adding multiple domains to your cart before checking out.

3.1 Reviewing Your Cart

When you are ready, click the Cart icon. Here you must make a critical decision: the Registration Term.

By default, domains are registered for 1 year. However, you can choose to register them for up to 10 years upfront. Registering for multiple years protects you from future price hikes by the registry and signals to search engines like Google that your business is legitimate and planning to stick around (which can slightly benefit SEO).

Chapter 5: Post-Registration Configuration

Navigate to your Dashboard and click on My Domains. You will see your newly registered domain listed there with an "Active" status. Click the "Manage" button next to it.

5.1 Custom Nameservers

If you have purchased hosting from another company (like AWS, Vercel, or HostGator), they will provide you with "Nameservers" (usually looking like ns1.hostname.com). In the Domzivo Domain Manager, locate the Nameservers tab, select "Custom Nameservers", paste the ones provided by your host, and click Save. This tells the internet that your host is now controlling the domain.

5.2 Advanced DNS Records

If you are using Domzivo's default nameservers, you can manage individual DNS records directly from our dashboard. You can add A Records (pointing to an IP address), CNAME records (pointing to another domain), or MX records (for email).
